Gibutyag sa Department of Agriculture (DA) nga mas ubos ang Rice Imports kaysa sa giplano, kon asa sa tibook tuig nakatala ug 3.36 million metric tons (MT) ug ubos pa kini sa 3.5 million MT nga gilauman ug mas ubos pa sa natala sa 4.81 million MT sa tuig 2024.
Resulta matod pa kini sa pagpatuman ni President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa 60 ka adlaw nga rice import suspension.
Sumala pa ni DA Spokeperson ASEC Arnel De Mesa, nga gitugutan na usab ang Rice Imports, apan ang taripa gipasaka sa 20 percent gikan sa 15 percent ug pagasugdan kini karong umaabot nga Enero 16, 2026.
Samtang ang Bureau of Plant Industry miaprubar sa sanitary and phytosanitary import clearances sa halos 500,000 MT, lakip na niini ang 50,000 MT nga reserved nga possibleng gamiton sa ahensya sa gobyerno.
